Singers make an impact with their voice but can a villain
make such an impression amongst his fans? Yes it happens with Ghost Gopal Varma
and Naan Kadavul fame Rajendran. His menacing voice and tough exterior has
fetched his so many nefarious roles that have been extremely applauded by the
audience. Take a read and I assure you will be taken by surprise!
A Stuntman turned actor
He is basically a
stuntman and has worked on nearly 500 films. His father Arunachalam and
brothers are also fighters.
His first film as an actor
He was asked to assist in a fight sequence in director Bala's Pithamagan.
At that time, he was promised a role in his next film. One day he got a call from Bala's office. When he went to see him, an offer for the villain's role in Naan Kadavul was waiting. Rajendran told him he was
only a fighter and would not be able to pull it off. But Bala gave him the confidence and made him to do the role. That's exactly what happened.
Reason behind his tough exterior
Rajendran was working as a stunt master in a Malayalam film
which required him to jump in a pond for one of the sequences. After he completed
the sequence there was an allergic reaction to it all over his head. Only then it was figured out that the factory next to the pond disposed their waste in
the same water and hence the allergic reaction. Ever since this incident his hair growth completely stopped so much such that he doesn't even have eyebrows.
On his menacing voice
The truth is, he raised his voice a lot in his first
film, and after that directors started liking the effect it created and from
then on it became his identity. The worst part is he has to speak at least four
times louder during dubbing. Sometimes they feel even that is not loud enough!
Reaction for his first film!
Rajendran went to Udhayam theatre to watch the film.
People instantly recognised him and started shaking hands with him. In fact, some
women even tried to keep a distance from him! This made him realise the impact of his role in Naan Kadavul.
Birthplace
He was born at the pearl city of Tamil Nadu - Tuticorin. No wonder he manages such a tough structure and broad smile. Man's nature is decided by his place.
His lifestyle
A very simple person and refuses any
luxurious hospitality at the sets. He is known for his attitude and kind heartedness. Looks don't determine the heart! Its true in this case.
Naan Kadavul Rajendran is aged?
Ever guessed if his body would match his age. He is 67yrs at present. Born on 1948 he has never been affected by ageing. How else can someone be a fighter?
